Love Columnist Expands Lee Hiller Designs with Her Passion for Fashion
Her store began with nature photographs taken in the mid 1990’s Erie, PA., continued with her 1999 collection of Washington DC shots which began her foray into digital photograph. If this were not enough Ms Hiller has begun a new range of designs based on her passion for fabric and fashion.
Born in Portland, Or., she knew she wanted to see the world. Her career in software as an instructional engineer took her from Oregon to the South Pacific to New Zealand to Erie, back to Portland and finally Hot Springs, Ar where she decided to settle along with her Sony Cybershot camera.
Though she began taking her wildlife and nature photography seriously in Erie, capturing squirrels, birds, flowers and trees all in their natural habitat, as far as she was concerned, she was simply enjoying the process of the creativity of photography and knew she was building a beautiful photo album.
In 2009, Lee Hiller, who was now Google's top ranked “America's Favorite Love Columnist” (yes she can write too), moved to Hot Springs to be with her fiancé', Rick London. London, who had already been in Hot Springs a decade and ancestors who lived there many years ago when Al Capone settled there to open his headquarters, showed her the city and it was not long before Ms Hiller was climbing the main mountains with her Sony Cybershot capturing the local scenery and wildlife.
It did not take her long to pick up and literally run with digital designing. London, a cartoonist and designer, had been working within ten feet of her in the same home office, making gifts and after a month together looked up to find she too had begun designing items for her own store. Hiller took it a step further in that she has found a way to scan fabric, build a huge inventory and transform everything from designer shoes to Psychedelic mouse pads and retro 50s Atomic Martini Club tees, to key chains to aprons and much more. Working from her scanned collection she has created an eclectic mix of hip modern and retro designs. When ask about her inspiration she states, “My Fiancé’ Rick and his amazing designer collection of Love Quote shoes and wildly funny cartoon gifts”.
Since moving to Arkansas she ventures in to the Hot Springs National Park to capture the beauty of its many trails. In the Hot Springs Historic District she is known for her photographs of Bath House Row architecture and tiles. She even has her own section of her store at LeeHillerDesigns.com which features Hot Springs, AR on various gifts products and collectibles.
In just two short months Hiller has designed 5000+ products and won 14 TBAs (Today's Best Award) which Zazzle gives to creators of the best products of the day. This may not seem like much but the competition is fierce with over 5 billion products a day in competition with her.

Questions & Answers about Climbing Mouse Pad
is my pet spiders home a good one? (wolf spider i believe)?
if its a wolf spider that ive captured (researched) it is about the size of a quarter. the spider is in a container about the size of the average mouse pad for a computer (maybe 3x bigger) dirt has been placed and has been wetted. enough to make it damp, not runny muddy. a small skull decoration has been placed for him to climb (and hide in). and the water dish is the cap to a gatorade bottle with enough water for him to drink, yet not enough for him to drown in. i read the dish shouldnt be filled excessively. the container is sitting on my dvd player which is in front of my window (not directly, a bit of a gap between window and dvdplayer) my food supply is the everyday bugs underground. meal worm, earth worm. have yet to get cricket, flies, other spiders. so is my spiders home A-OK or do i have to add something or remove?
Actually, you should put a sponge or something cloth in the water. Even though it is not much water in the cap, it is enough for your spider to possibly drown.
All spiders and especially small ones, require a constant source of moisture. The largest (and quickest) source of mortality for spiders in the lab is dessication. The best means of providing moisture is to have something that will hold moisture for at least a week so if you forget to check it everyday, the spiders will still be okay. You can do this by giving the spider a cotton ball (or a piece of sponge) that is damp; or a wick of cotton or cheese cloth that extends into a small pool of water.
If you are trying to keep spiderlings or baby spiders remember that the surface tension of water is stronger than they are! With baby spiders it is important to not have freestanding drops of water.
I wouldn't really suggest worms, or bettles for your spider.
Wolf spiders have a fairly flexible abdomen that helps them to be able to eat a lot of food when it is present. They also can do fairly well without much food for a week or longer as they are able to decrease their metabolism when food is absent.
Wolf spiders will eat a large number of different kinds of prey. They can take a prey item their own size or smaller and do best with flies, crickets and other spiders. The exoskeleton on many beetles is too tough. In addition to taking live prey, wolf spiders will scavenge and get nourishment from carcasses. You can sometimes see a spider pick up a leg or a wing from a cricket. Different species may show different prey preferences or abilities to subdue prey. Also, species may differ in how much they are willing to scavenge. Some insects may have some defenses against spiders.
Potential prey items for wolf spiders include house flies and mosquitos, crickets, beetle larvae (meal worms) and other spiders. Wolf spiders often will capture a prey item by grabbing the prey and then the spider will flip over onto its back while holding the prey item in its fangs. This may be particularly useful when grabbing a cricket as the strong jumping legs of the cricket could puncture the spiders abdomen. A good class project would be to determine the range of prey items a particular spider could eat. Depending on the size of the prey, spiders can be offered food daily; they also do fine eating once or twice a week. A good rule of thumb for the size of the prey is to offer spiders prey their own size or smaller.
Pet garter snake problem. Please Help Me?
She is a 16inch garter snake. She has a beautiful 40 gallon home. Lots of places to climb and hide. She also has a heating pad for her. The only problem i have with her is she WONT EAT. I tried earthworms, feeder fish, frozen pinkies, and now my mom wants to buy live mice because she comes from the wild.SO PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
The most common mistake a new snake owner can make is to put it in a cage that is TOO LARGE. Snakes will not eat unless they feel very secure because they are most vulnerable when they are trying to swallow.
Put a few of the food items in an opaque tupperware container with airholes inside. Set the snake in it and set the whole container into the tank. Give her an hour or two inside with the food. If she still doesn't eat, try again in a few days.
In the meantime you could also add some clutter to her cage. More hides, pieces of wood, fake plants, everything she needs to "hide" in the tank.
